Ziyan (Mia) Wang is an interdisciplinary designer and maker based in Cranston RI, USA. She earned her BFA Degree in Furniture Design and Manufacturing from the Rhode Island School of Design. Using a blend of craft and narrative in her creative process, she aims to share the cultural and historical identity that she brings as a Chinese designer in the global design landscape. Inspired by rituals, traditional techniques of arts and crafts, as well as personal and collective memories, Mia creates functional and artistic objects that forge emotional bonds between people and their environment. Her work has been the Winner of Interior Design Magazine’s NYCxDESIGN Award, shortlisted for German Design Council’s 1 & 20 World’s Best Design Talents Award, Core 77 Award and featured at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and NYC Design Week.
